Terminology and Glossary
CabFare Connect documentation uses generic terminology throughout to support integrations across multiple locations and subsidy schemes. The table below defines each generic term and maps it to the equivalent term used in specific locations.
Generic Terms

| CabFare Connect | The CabFare middleware broker platform |
| Subsidy Scheme | The government-administered passenger transport subsidy programme for the location |
| Subsidy Provider | The government body that administers the Subsidy Scheme |
| Data Collection Provider (DCP) | CabFare's accredited role as the authorised data broker between integration partners and the Subsidy Provider |
| Subsidy Card | The card issued to eligible passengers to access Subsidy Scheme benefits |
| Subsidy Card Validation | The process of confirming a Subsidy Card is eligible and has a positive balance |
| Taxi Meter | The in-vehicle metering and dispatch system used to calculate fares and manage driver shifts |
| Payment Terminal | The in-vehicle card payment device or mobile application used to process passenger payments |
| Driver ID | The unique identifier assigned to an accredited driver |
| Vehicle Plate | The registered vehicle plate number used to anchor a session between devices |
| Trip ID | A unique identifier for a single passenger trip, generated by the Taxi Meter or CabFare Connect |
| Transaction ID | A unique identifier for a single payment transaction |
| Lifting Fee | An additional fee payable to drivers for providing accessible transport services to eligible passengers |
| Unlinked Mode | The fallback operating state when the Taxi Meter and Payment Terminal are not linked, in which each device operates independently |
